Open Studio Mattia Valentini – 40Hz – Phase 2
Thursday, July 2, the Musical Atelier at Casa degli Artisti hosts the second 40Hz Phase 2 Open Studio, featuring Mattia Valentini, musician, producer and composer.
During his residency, Mattia has explored the relationship between sound, perception and psychophysical well-being through an in-depth investigation of 40 Hz sub-frequencies and their role within contemporary musical composition. His research also marks an important artistic transition, moving beyond more traditional forms of electronic music towards a highly experimental practice that incorporates unconventional sound devices, immersive listening environments and new compositional approaches.
For this research, Mattia has created an original composition of approximately 30 minutes, where electronic textures, deep low-frequency structures and evolving sonic environments converge into a listening experience designed to investigate how sub-frequencies can shape perception, attention and the embodied experience of sound.
As with all events within the 40Hz project, this Open Studio actively involves the audience in the ongoing scientific research. Before and after the listening session, participants will be invited to complete a scientific questionnaire, while a selected group will take part in EEG recordings, contributing directly to the neuroscientific validation of the project’s compositional protocols.

Low-Frequency Sound Advisory
This performance includes deep low-frequency sound and sub-bass vibrations, which may be perceived both acoustically and physically. Audience members with particular sensitivity to intense low-frequency stimulation are encouraged to attend with appropriate awareness.
