40Hz – Music & Neuroscience Research

Wednesday, June 10, the Musical Atelier at Casa degli Artisti hosts the first Open Studio of 40Hz Phase 2, featuring Gabriele Vassalli, musician, guitarist and electronic music producer.

In this second phase, the research project moves deeper into the study of the impact of sub-frequencies, introducing new compositional protocols developed under the artistic direction of IDRA and Brail, and technical tools, including a dedicated plugin and a purpose-built subwoofer.

For this research, the artist has composed a work of approximately 30 minutes, in which sub-frequencies travel through different sonic environments, both acoustic and electronic, shaped by improvisations on electric guitar and designed to generate a heightened sense of perceptual intensity.

As with all events within the 40Hz project, this Open Studio includes the direct involvement of the audience. Before and after the listening session, participants will be invited to complete a scientific questionnaire, while a selected group will take part in EEG recordings, actively contributing to the neuroscientific validation of the compositional protocol.
