Sound is a seed. It emerges from the landscape, gathering its silences, rhythms and resonances.

On Sunday, 4 October, during Orticolario 2026, 40Hz moves into a new environment, from the Tuscan landscape of Naturali Frequenze to the shores of Lake Como.

At Villa Erba, IDRA will present a site-specific sound performance for Mimesi del Sogno, developed as part of the artist’s residency within 40Hz, a project conceived by Francesco Piccolomini Bandini for Casa degli Artisti.

The work emerges from 40Hz’s ongoing research into 40 Hz gamma oscillations, an area of growing interest in contemporary neuroscience. Within the project’s experimental framework, 40 Hz sub-frequencies become part of the compositional language through which IDRA explores the relationship between sound, space and perception, inviting the audience into a deep and immersive listening experience.

Sound waves, light and plant matter enter into dialogue, transforming the installation into a living organism. The surrounding environment becomes part of the work itself, expanding the experience beyond sight and into the physical dimension of listening.
